Pumps for oil recirculation in a 13,975 kW engine

These two rotary lobe pumps will be delivered to a customer in Milan in the next few days. They will be used for oil recirculation in a 13,975 kW (19,000 hp) engine driving a power generator. For a smaller footprint, the pumps are installed one above the other. Each pump can convey up to 560 m³/h.

Metal rotors with a screw profile convey the hot oil (up to 80 °C) with low pulsation. The pump drive is cooled by circulating oil to prevent overheating.

The two pumps will not run at the same time, but will be used alternately. This will ensure that one of the pumps can convey medium even during possible maintenance work. To facilitate maintenance, the pumps can very easily be moved into a horizontal position one at a time.
