New thickened sludge grinder & pump upgrade

The NYCEP needed to replace aging thickened sludge pumps at their Red Hook WPCP (60 MGD dry weather capacity).  Based on an ongoing four-year test of Boerger grinders and rotary lobe pumps at the North River WPCP, and a successful installation of eight Boerger MultiSkid systems at the Owls’ Head WPCP, NYCEP issued a JOCS contract for eight additional Boerger MultiSkids to be installed at the Red Hook plant.  All eight are now started up and available for service transferring sludge at 2 – 8% thickness from four gravity thickeners to anaerobic digesters.
