Shredding of slaughterhouse waste
A designer of biogas plants was looking for a macerator/pump combination for the secondary crushing of slaughterhouse waste. According to the Hygiene Directive, slaughterhouse waste must be reduced to a grain size of < 12 mm before feeding it into the system. The slaughterhouse waste originates from chicken, pork and beef slaughtering and mainly consists of intestines and animal parts (ears, legs, eyes, pig’s heads, etc.). Based on the positive experience made in another project, the planning department opted for a Börger macerator/pump combination consisting of an auger feed, a Multicrusher, a rotary lobe pump and a Multichopper pure.
