A building manufacturer was looking for a high performance pump for a fire truck. Due to the restricted space requirement in the vehicle, the pump needed to be compact. The building manufacturer decided on the Börger Rotary Lobe Pump. Besides the criteria mentioned above, the key factor in the decision was the high quality of the rotary lobe pump and the option of reversing the pump, as well as the variable speed and pump output.
A mobile, self priming Börger is connected to a hollow shaft with a hydraulic motor. The space needed for the unit could be further reduced by using the hollow shaft connection. The Börger pump can be used for a variety of pump work due to the reversibility of the rotary lobe pump. A complicated pipe system is not necessary.
The pump is able to
· fill the 10 m³ tank on the vehicle (also in bilge mode)
· to feed the surface sprayer in the front section of the vehicle
· to feed a mixing unit with foaming agent
· to feed other vehicles
· to feed the jet pipe.
The customer is extremely pleased with the operation of the Boerger Rotary Lobe Pump. The pipe network could be easily set up owing to the reversibility of the pump. This also resulted in considerable savings. The fire department is pleased to know that it has a reliable pump in their new vehicle.

Fire department / Disaster Relief Service pumps
A German town was experiencing persistent problems with flooding and overflowing sewage canals. To be able to react without depending on other local authorities and associations, the town decided to procure its own mobile pump.
As the local branch of the Disaster Relief Service ran a specialist team for water damage/pump, the decision was made to create a unique nationwide collaboration between the local fire department and the Disaster Relief Service. The mobile pump was to be operated by the local fire department but owned by the Disaster Relief Service's specialist team for water damage/pump. This enabled any staff shortages at the fire department to be filled and saved on cost intensive training for the fire-fighters. The excellently trained Disaster Relief Service specialist team took care of pump maintenance and were able to operate it in the event of an emergency. To keep the mobile pump available locally for using outside the town requires approval from the fire department.
When choosing a mobile pump for this, they agreed on a Boerger Rotary Lobe Pump. The key factor in the decision was the extremely positive experience of working with Boerger pumps that was shared by members of the relief service. All the requirements of the relief service personnel and the fire department could be perfectly implemented as the entire mobile unit, from the trailer, to the pump technology to the control unit, was made by Boerger GmbH. Contrary to the centrifugal pumps often used by fire departments, Boerger Rotary Lobe Pumps are resistant to solids and loose only minimal pumping efficiency at high pressure. The self-priming Boerger pumps are highly reliable due to the impeccable quality and are impressive with the long, above-average service life.

Fire department mobile pump
A major German city has persistent problems with flooding and high water. The local fire department was looking for a mobile pump so they could react quickly in a time of crisis. The Börger pump needed to be self-priming and resistant to solids. It was also important for the fire department that the pump was robust, reliable and easy to maintain.
They opted for a Boerger FL 1036 Rotary Lobe Pump. The pump is mounted on a tandem axle trailer with an adjustable tow bar and driven by a noise-encapsulated diesel motor. A display shows the motor temperature, the pump speed, the operating time of the pump with current fuel level, the working pressure and more.
In addition to their deployment in flooding, mobile Börger pumps can also be used for replenishing water for fire fighting. Here, the Börger FL 1036 pumps water for fire fighting from water reservoirs (such as a river or pond) over long distances to the fire trucks. For this type of application, the fire service uses several rotary pumps. Compared to centrifugal pumps, many waste water officials use the Börger Rotary Lobe Pumps, as they have the advantage of being resistant to solids and scarcely lose efficiency even at high pressure. The fire service is extremely pleased with the Boerger mobile unit.

Foam extinguishing agents
Foam extinguishing agents
The foam extinguishing agent of the plant fire department of a large mineral oil company is stored in underground tanks. It has to be circulated once a month in order to ensure constant quality. This is done by means of the Börger rotary lobe pump. The Börger pump fills the foam extinguishing agent tanks of the fire trucks in case of fire. The Börger rotary lobe pump is equipped with a Variocap. It offers efficient overpressure protection regardless of the flow direction of the pump.

The plant fire department of a chemical company uses a Börger hazardous material pump on a hand cart. The very compact unit was built in line with the wishes of the plant fire department. Due to its compact design, the pump can also be used for accidents of the chemical transporters outside the company grounds. The pump is operated via the emergency power generators of the emergency vehicles in these cases.

The operator of a large nuclear power plant was looking for three mobile disaster relief pumps. The pumps are supposed to cool the reactors by applying water in case of a defect in the power plant. The operator opted for three Börger rotary lobe pumps EL 1000. The customer’s decision was based on the well-known high quality and reliability of the Börger rotary lobe pumps. In addition, compared to centrifugal pumps, rotary lobe pumps have the advantage that, even at high pressures, the flow rate hardly decreases. This is important for the disaster relief pumps as they had to be pressure-resistant up to 15 bar to be able to reach the required water throw distance.

The volunteer fire department of a small town in the Tyrolean region of Austria uses a mobile Börger PTO shaft pump for flood protection and feeding extinguishing water. The Börger pump has a compact design and can be transported by a tractor using the three-point suspension. The pump is driven by the PTO shaft of the tractor. An independent drive for the pump is not necessary due to this construction. In this way, the mobile pump becomes even more compact and can also be used in the Tyrolean mountain areas which are difficult to reach..
