Polyethylene granulate

Old plastics are cleaned first of all and then chopped into pieces of approx. 5 – 10 mm. The chopped plastic is then made into a polyethylene granulate in a special procedure (at a temperature of 110 °C to a particle size of approx. 5 mm). This is used as a raw material in the manufacture of plastic pipes, buckets, toys, household equipment etc. At this phase, the granulate is malleable and easy to form due to the high temperature. To become sufficiently hard, the particles are cooled down to 20°C in a water bath.

A Boerger Rotary Lobe Pump ensures that the granulate keeps circulating in the cold water for approx. 20 min. to prevent the formation of any clumps when cooling down.
