Centrifuge feeding
At a waste water treatment plant, static thickened sludge with a DS content of 4% needs to be pumped to the centrifuge. This task is performed by two Börger Rotary Lobe Pumps . The pumps feed the centrifuge at controlled speeds via a frequency converter in alternating operation. The sludge contains a high proportion of solids, fibers and clumps.
To prevent blockages at the inlet of the centrifuge and to protect the pumps, a Börger Multichopper was installed in front of the Börger pumps for dealing with the solids. This chops fibers, solids and clumps in the sludge, as well as homogenizing at the same time. The reversing control unit supplied ensures smooth operation by changing the direction of rotation if a jam occurs.
